Integrative Medicine is the practice of medicine that emphasizes patient-centered care and the importance of the physician/practitioner – patient relationship. Its focus is on the whole person, rather than segmented areas, and makes use of a multitude of appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, healthcare professionals and healing disciplines to achieve recovery from illness and restoration of optimal health.

What is Integrative Medicine?

Allergies are among the most widely undiagnosed ailments causing untold suffering in millions. A short time in our laboratory with our allergy technician can shed extraordinary light on allergies and sensitivities that have often caused our patients difficulties their entire lives. Our Progressive Medicine centers diagnose, test and treat food and inhalant allergies as well as chemical sensitivities. We are deeply experienced in treating not only traditional allergic states such as eczema, hives, asthma and rhinitis, but also more uncommon states such as hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder, muscle and joint aches, chronic fatigue and digestive disorders.

Chelation Therapy

Angina, heart disease and other disorders associated with poor blood circulation (including to the brain and the legs) have all been treated effectively with alternative treatments at our two Progressive Medicine centers. One of the techniques used is chelation therapy, in which an amino acid, ethylene-diamine-tetra-acetic acid (EDTA) is administered intravenously to try to improve blood flow.

Immune System Disorders

Our centers for Progressive Medicine provide the diagnosis and treatment of immune system disorders, such as chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic viral infections, chronic yeast infections (chronic candidiasis) and autoimmune disorders. We also offer adjunctive approaches to the treatment of cancer.

Lyme Disease

Our centers in Albany and Rhinebeck have become leading referral clinics for the treatment of Lyme Disease which has disabled so many people in the Hudson Valley and Capital District. We have treated this ailment effectively using oral and intravenous antibiotics, natural approaches and immune system modulation.

Medical Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs

"All that we do is touched with ocean yet we remain on the shore of what we know." Richard Wilbur

We offer acupuncture performed by a physician with over 20 years of experience in Eastern and Western medicine, along with Chinese medicine for the treatment of such musculoskeletal problems as headaches, back pain, fibromyalgia and other acute and chronic pain syndromes, as well as for stress, immune system disorders and digestive disorders.

Nutritional and Preventive Medicine

"Let thy food be thy medicine, and thy medicine be thy food" Hippocrates

We emphasize the importance of individualized dietary modifications and nutritional supplement regimens to correct existing disease states and achieve optimal health.
Our personalized service is designed to satisfy and reflect your unique needs, limitations and expectations. You will receive a comprehensive evaluation, which includes a complete medical history and physical examination, and a variety of individualized and specialized tests and diagnostic services. The result of this comprehensive evaluation is an individualized treatment plan.
"Feed a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish, feed him for a lifetime." Chinese Proverb
Our centers for Progressive Medicine encourage the use of a wide modality of wellness-enhancing practices. We are committed to not only the treatment of disease, but rather the optimization of our patients' health

Pulse Biofeedback

Pulse biofeedback is similar to the Chinese medicine view of the body and holistic health, in that illness or disease is believed to be a function of blockages in energy flow or chi. Where Chinese medicine looks at energy flow as chi, pulse biofeedback considers electromagnetic (EM) energy and frequencies as barometers of health or illness.

Utilizing a special EM frequency device, pulse biofeedback can be used to scan the body for interference in EM frequencies of various organs and body systems to diagnose and heal conditions that can range from sinusitis to chronic neuropathy.
Through scanning for abnormalities and then fine tuning EM frequencies to correct imbalances, pulse biofeedback facilitates the natural healing process. This system of healing has been used in Europe for over 10 years, and is available under the direction of one of our physicians at our health centers.

Stress Management

"The greatest discovery of any generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering the attitudes of their minds."

Albert Schweitzer
Every day we see the profound interrelation between mind and body and the ways in which stress can wreck havoc on people's health. As a result, we encourage the use of relaxation techniques, hypnosis, bio-feedback, imaging/visualization, and counseling, as well as other mind/body approaches for the treatment of stress-related disorders.

Women's Health

The women patients of our practices can avail themselves of annual examinations, natural approaches to premenstrual syndrome, menopause and osteoporosis. We have also successfully treated chronic urinary and vaginal infections.
